Ian hat eine Party anlässlich seines dreißigsten Geburtstag organisiert und alle seine Freunde eingeladen.
Ian has organized a party for his 30th birthday and invited all his friends.
Sally und Eddie begegnen sich das erste Mal und sprechen über ihre Berufe.
Sally and Eddie meet the first time and talk about their jobs.
Eddie: Woher kennst du Ian?
Eddie: How do you know Ian?
Sally: Ich arbeite in der gleichen Firma.
Sally: I work at the same company.
Eddie: Aha. Und was genau machst du dort?
Eddie: I see. What exactly do you do there?
Sally: Im Prinzip arbeite ich dort als Sekretärin. Und was machst du beruflich?
Sally: Basically I work there as a secretary. And what is your job?
Eddie: Ich habe als Rettungsschwimmer in Australien gearbeitet. Aber ich arbeite jetzt in einer Kneipe hier in London.
Eddie: I've worked as a lifeguard in Australia. But now I'm working in a pub here in London.
Sally: Warum hast du so einen coolen Job aufgegeben? Den ganzen Tag am Strand relaxen.
Sally: Why did you give up such a cool job? Just chilling out on the beach all day.
Eddie: Es ist nicht wirklich entspannend! Man hat viel Verantwortung.
Eddie: It's not really relaxing! You have a lot of responsibility.
Sally: Wirklich?
Sally: Really?
Eddie: Es kann teilweise recht stressig sein. Eine ertrinkende Person verhält sich nicht so wie in Hollywood Filmen.
Eddie: At times it can be quite stressful. A drowning person doesn't act as in Hollywood movies.
Sally: Aha.
Sally: I see.
Eddie: Eine ertrinkende Person hat normalerweise nicht mehr die Kraft, um nach Hilfe zu schreien oder zu winken.
Eddie: Normally a drowning person doesn't have the energy anymore to call for help or wave.
Sally: Verstehe. Du bevorzugst also in einer Kneipe zu arbeiten?
Sally: I see. So you prefer working in a pub?
Eddie: Es kann auch sehr stressig sein, aber ich wollte eine Zeit lang etwas anderes machen.
Eddie: It can be stressful too, but I wanted to do something different for a while.
Sally: In welcher Kneipe arbeitest du?
Sally: In which pub are you working?
Eddie: Es ist eine Kneipe im Zentrum Londons, in der Nähe des Leicester Square.
Eddie: It's a pub in central London near Leicester Square.
Eddie schreibt die Adresse der Kneipe auf und Sally verspricht vorbeizuschauen.
Eddie writes down the address of the pub and Sally promises to drop by.
