A visit to the doctor's
"Hola, señor Jones. ¿Qué le trae hoy por aquí?"
"Hello, Mr. Jones. What brings you here today?"
"Hola, doctor Smith. Cuando me he despertado esta mañana, estaba cubierto de sudor y me temblaba todo el cuerpo. Tenía náuseas, un fuerte dolor de cabeza y un poco de fiebre".
"Hello, Doctor Smith. When I woke up this morning, I was covered in sweat and my whole body was shaking. I felt nauseous, I had a pounding headache and I had a bit of a fever. I think I have the flu."
"Ya veo. Parece un resfriado. ¿Puede quitarse los zapatos y la camisa y acostarse en la camilla para que pueda examinarlo?"
"I see. That does sound like the flu. Could you please take off your shoes and shirt, and lie on the examining table, so that I can examine you?"
"Por supuesto".
"Of course."
"Sí, parece que tiene la garganta un poco inflamada. Y tiene un poco de fiebre. Inhale y exhale para mí, por favor. Bien. Ya puede vestirse".
"Yes, your throat looks a little inflamed. And you do have a bit of a temperature. Breathe in and out for me, please. Good. You can get dressed now."
"¿Entonces qué me pasa, Doctor?"
"So what's wrong with me, Doctor?"
"Tenía razón, señor Jones. Tiene un caso leve de resfriado común. Voy a prescribirle un medicamento antiviral, que deberá tomar tres veces al día durante cinco días. También quiero que se quede en casa durante tres días y haga reposo. ¿Va a necesitar un certificado médico?"
"You were right, Mr. Jones. You have a mild case of the common flu. I'm going to prescribe you an antiviral medication, which you must take three times a day for five days. I also want you to stay at home for three days and get plenty of rest. Will you need a medical certificate?"
"Sí, por favor."
"Yes, please."
"Aquí tiene. Venga a verme otra vez si en tres días no siente mejoría".
"There you go. Come back to see me if you don't feel any better in three days."
"Gracias, Doctor. Adiós".
"Thank you, Doctor. Goodbye."
"Adiós, señor Jones".
"Goodbye, Mr. Jones."
